As the analysis of consumption of China’s steel industry, the main application industry of steel are construction, machinery, automobiles, energy, followed by shipbuilding and home appliances. Most of the sheets used in these industries are medium and thick plates. Plasma cutting is often used in traditional medium and thick plate processing.
However, there are some problems. For example, plasma can not cut small holes, poor dimensional accuracy, large thermal influence, can not cut small parts, wide slit, waste material, and pollution etc.

As far as cutting precision is concerned, plasma is within 1mm, and fiber laser can be within 0.2mm. The cutting principle of the plasma cutting machine is to use the heat of high temperature plasma arc to melt the metal at the cut of the workpiece, but the cutting surface is rough and low accuracy.
Fiber laser cutting has not contact with the surface of the workpiece, with small slits, high precision, smooth end faces, no burns, which can meet the high precision requirements of aerospace, power equipment, petroleum equipment, automobile manufacturing, and more industries.

Fiber laser cutting is flexible, and it can cut any complex graphics, cut pipes, cut angles , cut channels. Besides, fiber laser cutting is a non-contact cutting, ensure that the workpieces is not scratched, the cutting edge is less affected by heat, no thermal deformation, and the whole process is environment friendly .
